You might have seen this already, but it's fascinating to read how Google manages to do so much stuff. I am a big fan of distributed lightweight architectures instead of trying to cram everything into one big application server.

Many corporations still live in the old mainframe mentality that 'big iron' rules. It's another example of mammals versus dinosaurs.
